Spay & Neuter
Spaying or neutering your pet can help them live a longer, healthier life, reduce behavior issues, and reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats on the streets.
Overview
Every hour, over 6,500 pups are born in Nigeria, according to the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association. Spaying or castrating females prevents unwanted litters, resulting in thousands of euthanasia treatments and millions of stray animals. Furthermore, these procedures can help your pet live a longer, healthier life by lowering the risk of certain diseases and tumors.

When should I have my pet spayed or neutered?
Between the ages of 4-6 months, we recommend spaying or castrating small dogs and cats. We generally advocate deferring surgery for large breed dogs until they are 6-12 months old.
Why should I have my pet spayed or neutered?
Spaying your female companion animal has a variety of advantages. They include reducing the number of stray dogs and cats, minimizing the sometimes’messy’ heat cycles that attract male dogs, and preventing illnesses like pyometra (uterine infection) and breast cancer in your pet. Furthermore, studies have revealed that spayed animals live longer than non-spayed animals.
There are several advantages to castrating your male companion animal. These advantages include reducing the number of wandering dogs and cats, decreasing unwanted and unpleasant behavior, and preventing illnesses like prostate disease and testicular cancer in your pet.
How is a spay or neutering surgery performed?
Spaying, also known as a “ovariohysterectomy,” is a medical process in which your female pet’s ovaries and uterus are surgically removed while she is under general anesthetic. Castrating is a medical operation that involves the removal of both testicles while your male pet is under general anaesthetic.
To reduce risk, we will examine your pet prior to surgery. We provide customized attention for each pet while they are under anesthesia to ensure their safety. To guarantee your pet’s comfort, our qualified technicians and veterinarians are skilled in modern monitoring.
When conducting a spay or castration, we prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort. On canine spays and castrations, as well as feline spays, we commonly employ an IV catheter and fluids. This is necessary for maintaining blood pressure and perfusion to the kidneys and other organs, as well as permitting emergency IV access. We combine innovative pain management techniques with anesthetic to ensure that your pet is as comfortable as possible throughout the treatment and after discharge. During the treatment, our spay and castration patients are given two or three different injectable pain medicines and are generally sent home with oral pain medication. At the surgical site, we also conduct local anesthetic blocks. Proper pain management helps for a more comfortable surgery and a quicker recovery.
